Stephanie Sarah Stamopoulos is an award-winning cellist based in Melbourne, Australia.

Steph studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester, UK), under the tutelage of Karine Georgian and Sally Pendlebury, and attained a Bachelor and Masters degree in Cello Performance. Following this, Steph moved to Austria to study with Maestra Natalia Gutman at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) under their exceptional student program.

Steph has won awards at a number of competitions, including first prize at the 2020 Mahler Cello Competition (Czech Republic), Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition and The Royal Northern College of Music Salon Prize.

As an avid orchestral and chamber music cellist, Steph has performed with the BBC Philharmonic (UK) and has also performed as Principal Cellist with Opera North (UK). As a chamber musician, Steph won the Olwyn Game Memorial Award (Australia) and has enjoyed performing in Vienna with her piano quartet.

Steph has performed all around the world in concerts, events, weddings and functions on both acoustic and electric cello. From VIP sporting events in the UK to weddings in Lake Como (Italy), Steph has a plethora of experience performing all genres of music.

Orlando Combo first formed in 1996 when the members met at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) whilst completing a BA in music performance. Through the experience gained from over 2000 performances, the Combo has gone on to become one of Melbourne’s best working bands, offering professionalism, reliability and outstanding musicianship at a reasonable price.

The band takes up minimal space and is discreet with equipment, being fully aware of the visual importance of wedding and corporate function work. Our standard attire for private events is lounge suit; sharp ‘vintage style’ presentation in keeping with our musical genre.

Being regular performers at the Spring Racing Carnival and various functions in Melbourne’s parks and gardens the group is able to play without a power supply if requested (please refer to our YouTube channel for examples). The Combo also travels to the Peninsulas, rural Victoria and interstate for performances.

Arranging music for your ceremony and reception can be a supremely personal choice, ranging from songs which may have special meaning to your relationship to those which carry a message you consider especially relevant to your day.

Many couples now choose to have different types of music at their weddings, opting for live music at the ceremony and pre-reception drinks, then a DJ later in the evening to get the dance floor moving once dinner and speeches are over.

For over two decades, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Healey has been wowing audiences all over Australia and abroad with his smooth voice, rhythmic guitar style and eclectic selection of soulful original songs and a huge repertoire of cover tracks. Now one of the most sort-after private and corporate entertainers in Australia, Andrew continues to travel the country regularly playing as a solo acoustic act, an amazing one-man-band and fronting several duos and bands.

Andrew began singing and playing music at 11 years old, quickly graduating from school-based choirs, bands and stage shows to become of the most popular acts at many local venues and events around his native Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Having studied Music Performance and Audio Engineering, he moved to London at the beginning of 2005 and while there played several historic music venues across the UK, returning home in mid-2007 for family commitments.

Once back in Australia, Andrew continued to expand on both his originals catalogue and his private and corporate function experience, appearing at up to 6 public shows each week while averaging around 30 private events per year (primarily weddings). At this point he was playing in several bands as a vocalist, guitarist and bass player – cover acts D’Rhythmaires, Nick Latta Unplugged, The Soapbox Preachers, Helium, Benandi and original rock outfit Madam Anarchy.

Making a move to Melbourne in 2012 gave Andrew a chance to shift his priorities. While continuing to write, record and perform his original material, he soon also became one of the cities busiest cover entertainers. Using live looping and digital effects to expand on his live show in both instances, he has developed an incredibly full “one-man-band” sound that uses no backing tracks or pre-recordings and must be seen to be believed. For many years he also fronted popular party band The Crawdaddys, and while he has resigned from his full-time commitments with the band, they continue to play shows together from time to time.

Now focussed on solo exploits, along with his collaboration with guitar master Tom Baeppler in Melbourne Acoustic Duo, Andrew continues to live and love music in all its forms and play shows all over the country.

We set the scene early by playing a few choice songs as guests arrive for the ceremony. Then,… the moment has arrived. You walk down the aisle to our beautiful arrangement of your song. Whatever that may be. It’s your choice. We then play during the signing of the registry and as you leave the altar as Mr & Mrs.

We are extremely flexible and will work with you to make your day perfect. The reception is generally 4 x 45-minute sets. In 90% of cases, we play 2 x acoustic sets while guests are eating entrees and mains, then we kick it into top gear with the full band sound once all the formalities are out the way.

If you are providing canapés for your guests prior to the official reception, we can certainly play the first acoustic set at that time if you would prefer. Again, the choice is yours. The bottom line –  it is your day! There is no right or wrong way to run it. Your way IS the right way. You just tell us exactly what you want, and we are good to go.

The bridal dance we could learn on top of this if need be.

To give you the wedding you most desire, we’ll craft a music set that features your favourite songs and singers. This can be as laid back as you need to to be or a more energetic ensemble to get the party grooving on the dance floor. It’s really is up to you. She also trained at NIDA the National Institute of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre and was the proud recipient of the Dusty Springfield Scholarship. Josephine’s experience has also spanned across other aspects of the industry, working as both a professional performer and performing arts teacher for 15 years. Although her role at Event Entertainers no longer permits her enough time to fulfil her passion for face-to-face teaching, she continues to support young artists as well as our Brides and Grooms through Event Entertainers’ educational resources.

Josephine works closely with our Event Entertainers’ Talent Manager, Tim Wilson. Tim brings a wealth of music industry experience that rivals most musicians, having worked as a professional musician since the age of 15. Although specialising in Bass and Guitar, Tim is also no stranger to the chair of Musical Director and has developed and managed bands from studio rehearsals to national tours. He not only brings a wealth of musicianship and exceptional gigging experience to his role as Talent Manager, but Tim Wilson is also the Director of videography and media company, Steve The Fish Media. Tim works closely with our Event Entertainers artists to develop their portfolios, developing and producing their promotional music videos, as well as creating content for our colleagues in the entertainment industry. In addition to his already stellar experience, Tim Wilson was also the Director of Sound Sessions for 15 years, an established music education initiative consisting of live performance and interactive analysis workshops led by young professional musicians.

It was a chilly September evening 10+ years ago when, Jordan was doing a show in Surry Hills and young pop superstar, Elle May, opened up the show. The two quickly became best mates, and after some fun gigs together, began writing and playing music together as their country-pop duo @heartbeatsmind.

Fast forward many years, hundreds of gigs a Nashville recording trip and many travel adventures, the two decided to go into business together and formed Oberon Lane.

They brought together all the best quality artists and musicians that they had met over the years, designed some amazing wedding packages, and got to work. Oberon Lane was born and within 3 years booked its 500th wedding.

Cedar Duo

The Cedar Duo consists of female and male vocals with guitar and is perfect for small to medium weddings.  Acoustic lounge background music sets are performed while entrees and mains are being served. After the formalities are out of the way you have a few choices on how the rest of the function will continue.

  1. The cool acoustic background music can continue for the rest of the event.  This is great for an afternoon wedding where guests can mingle and talk.
  2. If you are after a high energy party and you want your guests to dance the night away, the Cedar Duo can add backing tracks with synths, horns, percussion and drums to give you the sound and feel of a full band.
  3. The Cedar DJ can take over and fill the dance floor by spinning all your favourite party tunes.

Cedar Trio

The Cedar Trio is also perfect for small to medium weddings.  Create your own personal sound by adding another instrument to the Cedar Duo such as bass, keyboards, saxophone or percussion. An extra musician thickens up the sound and allows for more improvisation.  The Cedar Trio can fill the dance floor, creating an awesome party environment by adding backing tracks with synths, horns, percussion and drums to give you the sound and feel of a full band.

Cedar Band

The Cedar Band has a minimum of four musicians consisting of female and male vocals, bass guitar, guitar and drums. The live drums definitely add that extra zest. The band is suitable for small or large weddings so long as there is sufficient stage space.  Additional musicians can be added to the four-piece band to thicken up the sound. ​Hi everyone, I’m Ben & I am the owner/director of Wedding Band Collective.

I am a professional musician, and since studying music at university, I have been playing in & managing bands, and now I also DJ too!

A few years ago, when I was fresh out of university, I was lucky enough to join a couple of bands which took me overseas, touring and recording around Australia, NZ, and all over Europe. While on tour, I met the love of my life at a gig in Germany, and luckily for me, she decided to move to Australia. Megan has been performing professionally on the harp for over twenty years. Megan’s playing is supported by years of dedicated study; she holds a Bachelor of Music degree with Honours from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Music Performance degree from the Victorian College of the Arts, and a Master of Arts in Music, Culture and Politics from Cardiff University, Wales. She has also completed a Summer Academy course in Salzburg, Austria.

Megan has performed with a diverse range of musical ensembles, from the Melbourne Symphony and the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra, through to touring with Jose Carreras and the Bolshoi Ballet, as well as acts as diverse as Kanye West, The Whitlams and The Wiggles. Her television appearances include ‘Good Morning Australia’, ‘It Takes Two’ ‘Dancing with the Stars and ‘Spicks and Specks’.

She has recorded on both the Move and Naxos labels. Megan has performed with Chamber Music Australia for the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts and is a founding member of the chamber music group ‘voxArpa’.

Her public speaking skills have seen her in demand as a guest speaker at events around Australia and the United Kingdom. She was nominated ‘Best Speaker’ at the Rotary District 9810 conference in Adelaide. Megan has also presented papers at both the Australian Harp Festival and the World Harp Congress.

As a teacher, Megan is in demand for both in-person and Skype lessons. She runs adult learner classes at Nillumbik Living and Learning and is on staff at Fintona Girls’ School and Melbourne Polytechnic. Megan has also published a beginner harp book as well as multiple arrangements for harp and harp ensembles.

Megan has also performed at numerous weddings and private functions. In fact, she has played now at over 1200 weddings!

Choosing a live wedding band for your special day is an essential part of the wedding planning process and one which you’ll want to get just right.

Music can make all the difference in the world on the day and acts as more than just a backdrop to the proceedings. A live wedding band with the right experience can set the mood and tone for the whole day, acting as a musical centrepiece, which perfectly complements and enhances the proceedings, as well as acting as a catalyst which helps to make the atmosphere come to life with the energy of the moment.

We’ve broken the decision making process down for you in easy to digest blocks, so if you’re pushed for time, you can skip to the sections which matter to you the most and come back to read more later, when you arrive at that point in the decision making process.

How should a bride and groom get started with finding a band?

There are typically three ways that a couple can find a band: They attend an event (concert, corporate party, etc.) where a talented band is performing; they receive a recommendation from a friend or family member who recently married and hired a band, or they conduct a keyword search online for a “full-service production company” or “music agent” in their area that recommends a band based on certain needs. The latter approach is how Encore has always been booked to perform.

How can a bride and groom be absolutely sure that they are getting a band that is the “right” fit for them?

Most of my clients do business with me on the phone while viewing my agency’s website, which includes pictures, live videos, and testimonials from recent clients and venue owners. Testimonials are key, and every bride and groom should ask to see an updated list of happy customers.

What questions should the couple ask when meeting with a band?

A bride and groom should discuss whether they want dancing after dinner, during dinner, before dinner, or all of the above. This will have a lot to do with the type of band and the style of music that an agent will recommend.

As for the prices: it’s an issue that every bride and groom should discuss. But remember that prices range anywhere from $2,000 to $35,000 based on the client’s needs. Some people are happy with a small band that plays for an hour during the cocktail reception, and others want a large (and even famous) group that performs all night. Prices will also differ depending on the time of year. The first quarter of the year is the slowest season for weddings, and thus, the prices for bands are at their lowest.

What should a couple know about hiring a band vs. hiring a DJ?

First and foremost, let me say that a live band is visually and sonically more impacting than a DJ, especially when there are a substantial number of guests present.

As for the breaks, a band usually gets three 15-minute breaks, unless the client wants continuous music all night (which would require an additional payment).

An experienced wedding band should not have any limitations regarding musical style and repertoire (unless, of course, the client imposes these limitations and specifically asks for a “Motown” or “jazz” band). And should the bride and groom have a unique or “obscure” song request, remember that a talented band will always be able to learn and perform the song as long as the couple provides the sheet music and CD.

Finally, the size and instrumentation for your average wedding band include bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and a male and female vocalist. Still, for additional impact, instrumentation can include a full horn section, percussionists, and even back-up singers and dancers (at an additional cost to the customer).

Is there anything else that a bride and groom must know to ensure that hiring a band goes smoothly?

So it much depends on where the event is being held. If it’s held at a residence, a couple must have a large room or backyard for the band to set up. They should be prepared to spend a little extra money for the band to bring a generator for power, they should know that neighbours are likely to complain about the noise after 10 p.m., and they should be prepared to designate a quiet and well-lit “holding room” or “green room” with refreshments for the band. As for parking, the band can usually find spots on nearby residential streets.

If the event is held in a hotel, a lot of the issues mentioned above are easier to control — there are typically no space, noise, or parking restrictions. Thus, the finer details that a bride and groom must consider when hiring a band really depends on where the event is being held. Really, an entire article can be written on wedding venues alone!

Understanding Your Vision

Weddings take a huge amount of planning, but this doesn’t mean you’ll want to compromise your vision of the perfect day for the sake of an easy life. Admittedly, where cost and expenses are concerned, we may all have to be realistic to some degree, but overall, the theme and style of your day should reflect exactly the vision you have in mind.

So, while a big band playing throughout the course of the whole day or the world’s finest jazz musicians all on one stage may be out of financial reach, you should, however, consider hiring a live wedding band who shares your vision of what makes the perfect wedding day entertainment and can adjust their performance to your theme. In this respect, it is as much about you choosing the band as it is them choosing you, as the there ought to be some degree of synergy between what you want and how they like to perform.

That said, it’s also equally important to choose a live wedding band who can accommodate your wishes, so make sure they are able to provide the right type of entertainment that you have in mind from the outset.

So how do you go about this? Well, at this early stage, you may well be in a researching mindset and not actively in discussion with the band you have in mind. In this case, be sure to browse the content on their website, check the images and video on their social media channels and YouTube channel, to see what kind of image they present on stage. This will give you a feel for how they come across in performances, as well as giving you some indication of their technical expertise and a chance to find out what people are saying about the band.

A live wedding band is as much a part of your theme as is the surrounding, the wedding flowers or the bridal dress, so make sure the band you choose blends in perfectly with your style and as they’ll be setting the stage for the whole day.

Roles

Be clear on what you want from the band. Many live weeding bands like to take an active role in the proceedings, so be sure to find out if this is the case. Are they to be background music, will they announce the bride and groom to the reception on the wedding first dance song or is the DJ that you hire to interact and communicate with the audience or play a setlist without interruption for the night. Do you want them to take an active role in getting people involved or simply create an atmosphere of bliss that envelopes the event? Get these initial questions right, and you’ll be well on your way to making the ideal choice.
