Wedding Culture from Around the World

At Vogue Ballroom, we love weddings. The Wedding of Joanna and Peter – 06.03.2016

Joanna and Peter’s story started off with the R word – Rejection! They were both on a dating site trying to find love. In 2013,  Peter first communicated with Joanna via the site.

Joanna said: Peter sent me a polite message in hope of starting something but I, being inundated with so many contacts (blowing my own trumpet here!), sent him a polite reply something to the effect that said “Thanks, but no thanks!” That was the
end of that. About a year later when a relationship I was in ended, I went back on the site and behold I thought I might send Peter a humble “Hi!”. He responded and thus began a relationship!

On the 14th June 2014, we went on our first date at Mezedakia Restaurant in Oakleigh. Which I thought was a little too “common” at the time but as I was walking to the place and saw him standing there with […]

The Wedding of Victoria & George – 27.02.16

George and Victoria were living in the same neighbourhood, just around the corner from each other. They met through a mutual friend. They started dating in 2011, and were engaged in 2014. To surprise Victoria, George said his boss could no longer use his room at the Grand Hyatt, and offered it to him at a cheaper price. Victoria, of course, excited for a night away – happily accepted his offer. After dinner,  they arrived back to their room and George told Victoria to wait outside the door as he had to go inside to do something. After a couple of minutes,  she heard Mariah Carey’s song –  “ill be there” playing.  George then yelled out for her to come in. When she walked inside, there was a trail of rose petals and candles on the floor that led out to the balcony where, George mirrored a scene from The Bachelor – standing in a […]

For the recently betrothed who are still deciding on what date to choose, they will certainly find the advice from one of Melbourne’s most iconic and awesome celebrants, Russ Macumber most useful as he discusses the benefits of winter weddings and indoor ceremonies. […]

A Guide to Wonderful & Comfortable Bridal Shoes

At Vogue Ballroom, we are fortunate enough to come across a new pair of glistening wedding shoes every week, and if we’re lucky we may come across three pairs a week! When it comes to a bride selecting her desired pair of shoes for the big day some choose comfort, whilst some may choose the look and of course the brand name of the shoes. A new trend that we’ve seen among brides has been that they use two pairs of wedding shoes for the day. One pair is used for the morning video and photo pre-shoot, then by the time they’ve reached the reception some brides slip into a more comfier shoe for the night.

Here is a selection of some truly beautiful, as well as comfortable shoes fit for any bride on her wedding day:

Jimmy Choo

These shoes are truly remarkable, and of course – there is enough bling on these shoes […]

Wedding Cakes That Make A Statement

At Vogue Ballroom, we are fortunate enough to see a variety of wedding cakes every week. If one things for sure, it is that no two cakes are ever the same. From elegant centerpieces, to real or sugared flowers, to even cakes that have towered over the bride and groom – we’ve truly seen it all! Depending on your budget, some bridegrooms choose to allow a small or generous costing for their wedding cake. Here are our some of the different and most beautiful cakes we’ve had the pleasure of serving at our venue:

The Wedding of Sofia & Edress

Apart from its height and delicate floral work, what really makes this cake is its stunning base and opulent white colouring. If you are choosing to accompany your cake with flowers, white is always a good choice of colour to show a balanced contrast.

The Wedding of Niki & Chris – 21.11.2015

Their Love Story
I met Chris on RSVP five years ago. I knew from our first date that he was the guy for me. We spent our first hour at a café having lunch, then the next five hours at the beach in Mt Eliza chatting away. He was great to talk to, in fact I knew that he was a complete gentleman and a very kind hearted person. It was obvious that he would do anything for anyone and that’s how he stole my heart.

My husband Chris proposed to me in February 2014. We were in Melbourne celebrating our three year anniversary when he popped the question. We were heading to the Rialto where he was originally going to propose at the top, but he was very shy and proposed at the hotel before we headed out. It is still a very special memory.

Planning the Wedding
We were engaged for a […]
